The Secret ToAppiness

Use your phone like you mean it.

A book about building a life that feels good, not just a productive one. Written by someone who spent years getting very, very good at the second part.

I once dropped my phone on my daughter's head.

She was fine. It's in the book. The short version is that something had to change, and it wasn't going to be the phone.

About the book

Most productivity books want you to do more. This one starts by asking what all that doing is actually for.

I built a system that worked. I ran sales teams of up to 100 people on it. And then I hit a wall anyway.

The Secret To Appiness is about what came next. It's the realisation that productivity without intentionality is just a faster treadmill, and that the device in your pocket can help you get off it. Not by using it less. By using it on purpose.

What's inside

01

One rule.

Just one. It's simpler than you think, and it changes everything else.

02

No more guilt.

Falling behind stops mattering when you know you can catch up.

03

The intentional phone.

Your apps are fighting for your attention. Time to make them earn it.

04

The Friend List.

The heart of the book. When some of my friends found out they were on mine, they cried.

05

The Thinking Partner.

What happens when the system gets smarter than you expected.

Who it's for

Driven, ambitious people who feel the gap between their capability and their life.

If you've ever finished a big day and still felt like you'd forgotten something important, or had that particular dread on a Sunday night, this is for you. If you think you're too creative, too messy or too unusual for a system: affectionately, you're not that special. It works for everyone.

"I won't pretend to have all the answers. Not even close."
"A list is about creating intentions."
"So, you're spiraling. Add items. Sort items. Relax."

About the author

Greg Valiquette

Greg Valiquette started out in digital media and streaming, then ended up leading large sales teams. Not because he chose sales, but because someone asked him. The way of working at the heart of this book was born out of necessity, and a fair amount of fear.

Today he's co-founder and CEO of reGIG, a live music recording platform, and he wrote this book using the exact system it describes. He lives in London, is a dad of two and supports Fulham, which tells you everything about his relationship with hope.
